TAMPA Fla. – Governor Ron DeSantis was in Tampa today and addressed questions regarding the spike in COVID-19 cases and the Phase 3 of opening.

“We are where we are. I didn’t say we’re going onto the next phase. We’ve done a step-by-step approach and it’s an approach that’s been reflective of the unique situation of each area,” DeSantis said. “We never anticipated doing anything different in terms of the next phase, at this point, anyways. So we are where we are.”

“We did the opening at the beginning of May, had very steady, manageable cases. Obviously we’ve seen that turn lately,” DeSantis said at a bill signing for private-school voucher legislation.

DeSantis also announced that the state will be supporting a new BayCare COVID-19 testing site at Tropicana Field, but details on the opening of that site were not released.
