A 27-year-old Florida woman, Esther Thelus, has been charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder after a horrific incident in which she allegedly set herself and her two young children on fire.

On August 26th, emergency services responded to a house fire on Hiawassee Oaks Drive in Orange County. Upon arrival, they found Thelus, her 8-month-old son, and her 2-year-old son suffering from severe burns. The infant, Davinci Joseph, tragically succumbed to his injuries on October 25th. The 2-year-old is expected to recover.

According to an arrest warrant, Thelus had recently dropped off her 2-year-old son with his father, Jefferson Mignon. However, doubts arose about the child’s paternity, leading to tensions between Thelus and Mignon.

Following a heated argument, Thelus returned home and allegedly set herself and her children on fire. The motive behind this horrific act is still under investigation, but the warrant suggests it may be linked to feelings of humiliation and despair.

Thelus remains hospitalized and is expected to face legal proceedings upon her release.
