The Smart & Safe Florida political committee, leading the charge to legalize recreational marijuana in Florida, has amassed over $150 million in funding, with cannabis company Trulieve contributing another $2 million this week, according to state finance reports.
As of Tuesday, the committee had raised a total of $150,773,729 in cash donations and received $954,256 in in-kind contributions.

Trulieve has played a key role, providing nearly $143.1 million in support, including the latest $2 million. Smart & Safe Florida, founded in 2022, is behind Amendment 3 on the November ballot, which would permit adults 21 and older to “possess, purchase, or use marijuana products” for recreational use.
While Florida voters approved medical marijuana in 2016, this new amendment faces opposition from Governor Ron DeSantis, who is actively campaigning against it.
State agencies have also aired television ads urging voters to reject the measure.
