A 44-year-old Florida man now has more issues with law enforcement after fleeing the scene of a crash, only to be arrested for DUI and multiple other charges.

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, in Lake Wales, on Monday evening, a woman’s vehicle was hit by a blue Dodge pickup truck.

Deputies say the driver refused to provide insurance information and fled the scene, claiming to have “enough issues with law enforcement.”

Deputies located the truck swerving on US 27 and conducted a traffic stop. The driver, identified as 44-year-old Ryan Irwin, pulled into a Love’s Truck Stop and parked on the sidewalk.

Investigators say the man displayed signs of impairment and provided a false identity. He admitted to taking Suboxone, an opioid with potential side effects impacting driving ability.

Irwin was arrested for DUI, DUI with property damage, leaving the scene of a crash, providing a false identity to law enforcement, and driving with a suspended license. He was booked into Polk County Jail.
