As Hurricane Nicole made landfall on Florida’s coast Thursday criminals see an open door, or in this case an open window, of opportunity for looting and stealing from victims.
Deputies say a caller spotted Joshua Bowie, 29, walking around looking at houses and then saw him climb through a broken window of a home off South Atlantic Avenue.
He was taken into custody soon after, according to Volusia Sheriff’s Office.
Bowie, 29, is from Marion County and was dropped off in the area by friends, according to deputies.
“Joshua Bowie now realizes we were serious about zero tolerance on the beachside,” said Volusia Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators say he has a recent arrest for Grand Theft Auto in Volusia County on Feb. 1, 2022, and was just released 7 days ago.
“Back to the Branch Jail, Josh,” said VSO.
