A Florida couple arrested was arrested after armed robbery of a bingo and arcade center.

According to deputies, the couple was taken into custody after the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office arrested them for robbing the Vero Beach Bingo at closing time overnight.

The robbery occurred early Monday morning when a female customer who had left came back to the arcade asking employees to let her back in.

When the two employees let her in, her accomplice rushed into the arcade. The accomplice held the employees at gunpoint and demanded money.

He collected an undisclosed amount of cash and took the employees’ phones, along with the store phone. An employee was able to call 911 from the smartwatch the employee was wearing, according to deputies.

Deputies responded almost immediately and were able to track the stolen cellphone. The Aviation Unit’s helicopter was launched and was able to locate the suspect vehicle and track it back to a home in south county.

From there, deputies descended on the home, located in the 1200 block of 36th Avenue, and made contact with the pair, who were subsequently arrested.

A search warrant issued for the home led to the discovery of the cash from the arcade, still bound and marked, the firearm used, and a glove.

Employees had described the male suspect as wearing a single glove – a camo print glove on his right hand.

Deputies arrested 26-year-old Gerry Smith, Jr., of 3986 47th St., Vero Beach, and Kymisha Harris, 34, of 1254 36th Ave., Vero Beach.

Smith faces charges of robbery with a firearm, hindering 911 communication, tampering with evidence, and two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Harris faces one charge of robbery with a firearm. Both are being held at the jail without bail.
