On Monday, MSNBC reported that South Florida doctors walked out of the hospital in protest of unvaccinated people.

Morning Joe host, Joe Scarborough said, “We are here at Palm Beach Gardens Florida, at this doctor’s walk-out. And I know the area very well. With Americans don’t understand, is for every unvaccinated person that’s filling up an ICU bed, that means with a hospital’s job somebody with a heart attack, and I’ve known somebody in this position, goes there has trouble getting and can’t get treatment, can’t get a bed. It is a nightmare for the doctors.”

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ Press Secretary Christina Pushaw says not so fast, “FACT CHECK: South Florida has a very high vaccination rate & hospitals do have the capacity to treat patients. These doctors went outside for a few minutes this morning, NOT to “go on strike” — but to urge people to get vaccinated to avoid hospitalization.”

Last week, Pushaw made headlines after pushing back against a complaint by The Associated Press that she unleashed a social media mob against one of its reporters over a story critical of DeSantis’ promotion of a COVID-19 treatment.

The AP’s Chief Operating Officer Daisy Veerasingham wrote DeSantis on Friday to complain that his spokeswoman, Christina Pushaw, “threatened” one of its reporters, which was “dangerous and in conflict with the spirit” of the state’s constitutional protections of free speech and freedom of the press.

The story appears to be an AP report published on Wednesday that suggested DeSantis was “touting” a coronavirus treatment made by a company called Regeneron, which was used on President Donald Trump and is now being used on Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, who has sustained a breakthrough infection of COVID.

The AP noted a hedge fund named Citadel has a $16 million stake in the company, and its manager, Ken Griffin, has donated almost $11 million to a PAC that supports DeSantis.

On a side note, Regeneron was purchased by the U.S. Government, not the State of Florida, on January 12, 2021, with over 1.5 million doses in stock.

DeSantis has promoted early treatment with Regeneron’s monoclonal antibodies as a way to keep people out of the hospital.

That, of course, runs counter to the vaccine narrative, the AP noted.

“It’s reprehensible and beyond the pale,” Pushaw told The Free Press.

“They did this just to score political points against the governor. But the reporter is not the victim here. The victims are the people of Florida. They’re risking their lives because they may not seek this life-saving treatment” based on the AP report,” she added.

On Friday, Pushaw temporarily wound up in Twitter jail after the Associated Press accused her of leading a badgering effort against one of its reporters.

“You will ban the press secretary of a democratically elected official while allowing the Taliban to live-tweet their conquest of Afghanistan?” Pushaw told The Free Press.

“This proves Gov. DeSantis right – again. Those who challenge false narratives are too often silenced by corporate media and Big Tech collusion. No wonder public trust in the media is at an all-time low.”
