DADE CITY, Fla. – A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) arrest warrant remains active for Jamie L. Johnson, 47, of Dade City, accused of fraud on the abortion initiative.

According to FDLE, Johnson is charged with ten felony counts of criminal use of personal identification information and signing another person’s name to or use of a fictitious name on a petition.

Officials say the arrest warrant has been active since early February.

“Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident,” said FDLE Commissioner Mark Glass. “This year alone FDLE inspectors have arrested numerous individuals with dozens of charges for petition fraud and several more investigations are active. At FDLE, we will continue to aggressively investigate any allegations of election crime.”

Two petition circulators for Initiative 23-07, the Amendment to Limit Government Interference with Abortion, have been arrested. George Edward Andrews III, 30, of Dade City, was arrested in February, and Andres Felipe Salazar, 37, of Tampa, was arrested earlier this month.

This investigation began after the suspects submitted 133 invalid constitutional amendment petitions in multiple counties.

The arrests were the result of an investigation led by FDLE’s Election Crime Unit (ECU) working with the Florida Department of State Office of Election Crimes and Security (OECS) and with assistance from local elections supervisors.
