LAKELAND, Fla. – Dwayne Knowles, 61, of Lakeland, was arrested on Monday afternoon for allegedly attempting to murder a man at Saddle Creek Campground. Knowles told detectives he was “fed up” with the victim, who he claimed had stolen a speaker from him days earlier.

Around 2:15 pm, Knowles drove his white Ford F-150 directly at the 34-year-old victim, striking him with the vehicle. He then exited the truck and began punching the man in the head.

When the victim’s 78-year-old grandmother tried to intervene, Knowles pushed her to the ground. He fled the scene in his truck but was later apprehended.

Fortunately, neither victim was injured. Knowles now faces charges of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery on a person over 65, and battery.
