LAKELAND, Fla. – A tragic accident in Lakeland on Saturday night resulted in the death of one driver and left several others injured.

The collision occurred around 8:49 p.m. on State Road 33, involving a black Toyota pickup truck and a silver Toyota sedan.

According to the Lakeland Police Department, the sedan, traveling southbound, veered off the road, crossed the median, and collided head-on with the northbound pickup truck.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene, but sadly, the driver of the sedan, 50-year-old Maurice Knight of Lakeland, was pronounced dead. The occupants of the pickup truck, including the driver and three passengers, were transported to Lakeland Regional Health with non-life-threatening injuries.
