STAMFORD, Conn. – Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Boston recently arrested a Brazilian national residing in Stamford who was wanted by authorities in Brazil for a robbery conviction that resulted in a death.

The 29-year-old fugitive was apprehended near his residence by ERO Boston’s Hartford office. He had fled to the United States in an attempt to evade justice in his home country. Brazilian authorities issued an arrest warrant for the man in 2023, stemming from his 2016 conviction.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection at John F. Kennedy International Airport in Queens, New York, admitted the Brazilian national to the United States on Sept. 15, 2018.

However, he violated the terms of his admittance.

“This Brazilian noncitizen fled to the United States in an effort to evade justice in his home country,” said ERO Boston Field Office Director Todd M. Lyons. “His actions resulted in the death of a person, and he posed a significant threat to the residents of Connecticut. ERO Boston will not allow our New England communities to become safe havens for foreign criminals. We will aggressively arrest and remove any noncitizen threat to the safety of our neighborhoods.”

The individual is currently in ERO custody pending removal proceedings, where a judge will determine his future in the United States.

ERO is responsible for removing individuals who are in the country unlawfully, including those with criminal convictions. This arrest is part of ERO’s ongoing efforts to identify and remove dangerous criminals from the United States.
