TAMPA, Fla. – ENCORE! Tampa, the mixed-use, multi-family community near the heart of Downtown Tampa, has partnered with Tampa Bay Butterfly Foundation to create a ½ acre garden in the heart of the community.

Today, Monday, February 22 a team of volunteers and the Founder of Tampa Bay Butterfly Foundation will be on hand to plant 300 native plants for the butterfly garden at ENCORE! Technology Park.

It’s the centerpiece of this wonderful garden. ENCORE! was built using certified sustainability practices. The garden continues to fulfill those efforts since native plants require less water and irrigation. ENCORE! Technology Park also houses solar panels which provide energy for street and outdoor lights in the community.

ENCORE! currently has four multi-family buildings on-site and with three additional buildings under construction site, all utilizing green building practices.  Now, with the community projects bringing nature to the area, it is wonderfully uplifting and nurturing to the surroundings as a whole.

Anita Camacho, the Founder of the Butterfly Conservatory of Tampa Bay and the Tampa Bay Butterfly Foundation is excited about this project. The plants for this project come from her Little Red Wagon Native Nursery in South Tampa.

This will be the centerpiece of the garden project. She is thrilled to put the plants into the ground to attract the pollinators. It will be a fantastic butterfly garden when complete. Her catchphrase is Nurture Native and this will absolutely embrace that outlook.

The planting on the half acre lot will encourage and teach the nearby residents the benefits of native plants and show them how important it is for the environment.

Details for the event and volunteers are:

  • 10:00 volunteers arrive
  • 10:30 planting begins
  • 300 plants will be planted

Address: 1210 E. Harrison St. Tampa, FL 33602 or visit https://encoretampa.com/ for more information.

All are welcome to enjoy this groundbreaking and planting. This is the culmination of a year’s worth of planting and organizing.
