HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – A Kissimmee man was arrested for DUI after a wrong-way crash that happened around 1:45 am on Thursday.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, an Infiniti Q50, driven by Ramon Luis Rivera, 45, of Kissimmee, was traveling southbound on SR-589 in the northbound travel lanes south of the Dale Mabry Extension. 

Troopers say Rivera crashed nearly head-on with an Acura TL traveling northbound on SR-589.

The driver of the Acura, a 21-year-old Trinity man, and his passenger, a 22-year-old Trinity woman, suffered serious injuries and were transported to an area hospital. 

The wrong-way driver suffered minor injuries and was later arrested by FHP Troopers for DUI involving serious injury.
