Two deputies in Florida escaped serious injury, or worse when a drunk driver smashed into their patrol car.
According to investigators, Volusia County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Stubblefield and his trainee Deputy Garcia were working a traffic crash on U.S. 17 near Lingering Lane when a DUI driver crashed into the back of their patrol vehicle.
The collision knocked Deputy Stubblefield to the ground and forced Deputy Garcia into the dashboard, but thankfully they avoided serious injuries.
The driver, Victor Arevalo, 59, of DeLeon Springs, showed obvious signs of impairment and was unable to complete field sobriety exercises.
