Donations for Bahamas relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Dorian are being accepted at the Salty Shamrock Irish Pub in Apollo Beach.
There is a tent for donations outside the pub, at 6186 N. U.S. 41, just south of Apollo Beach Boulevard. Items can also be left inside the patio, owner Sean Rice says.
The local effort began Tuesday, and Rice says the first load, a “full box truck,” went out Wednesday. Rice says supplies will be accepted any time over the next few weeks.
“We’ve had people dropping stuff off at midnight, some at 9 a.m.,” he says.
Items will be taken to T.A. Mahoney marine supply, on Adamo Drive in Tampa, which is also accepting donations. Unik Heating and Cooling in Seffner is assisting with transportation.
Items needed include bottled water, nonperishable food, hygiene products, pet food, baby supplies, bug spray, batteries, flashlights, trash bags, duct tape, gas cans, building supplies, generators, extension cords and more.
For more information, call the Salty Shamrock at (813) 938-5282.
The Silver Ring Cafe, at 7419 U.S. 301 S. in Riverview, will also be accepting donations for Bahamas relief, through Saturday. That effort is being coordinated through Sol Relief.
