Search and rescue efforts are underway as the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office searches for a missing swimmer. 

On Friday, June 11, 2021, at approximately 7:30 p.m., deputies with HCSO’s Marine Unit were dispatched to the 6000 block of Surfside Boulevard, after receiving reports of two adults and a child who were swept away by a current and were unable to swim back to shore.

Deputies have recovered the body of a deceased adult. A child was also located and transported to a nearby hospital. The third individual has not been found, according to deputies.

Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister will update the media at 10:45 pm tonight and we will update this story as details are released.
