CLEARWATER, Fla. – The Clearwater Police Department, working alongside the city’s Solid Waste Department, will offer free shredding to Clearwater residents on Saturday at Countryside Mall.

The event, scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., will also offer free collection of unwanted prescription drugs. It will take place in the mall parking lot near Crunch Fitness.

Both services are meant for Clearwater residents and not for use by commercial interests.

The free shredding is a way to keep your sensitive financial documents safe.

Papers will be shredded on site under the supervision of Clearwater Police economic crimes detectives.

Getting rid of unwanted prescription drugs is also a safe and proper way of disposal. Flushing them down the toilet or throwing them in the trash is not good for the environment.

The police department and city of Clearwater offer these services free to residents twice a year – once in the spring and once in the fall.
