CLEARWATER, Fla. – Clearwater Police officers arrested a Pasco County man early this morning after he fired a gun from his moving motorcycle on Memorial Causeway.

Emanuel Cantero-Soto, 43, of Holiday was charged with discharging a firearm from a vehicle and use of a firearm while under the influence of alcohol. He was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on those charges.

A witness to the incident called 911 at 12:44 a.m. to report that a motorcycle rider had fired a gun while headed eastbound on the causeway near Island Way.

Officers were able to conduct a traffic stop on the motorcycle shortly thereafter on Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard.

Cantero-Soto, who possesses a concealed weapons permit, said he had been upset with the vehicle in front of him when he fired the gun. He said he didn’t intend to hurt anyone. No injuries were reported.

The weapon Cantero-Soto used was a semiautomatic Taurus 9mm, according to investigators.
