CLEARWATER, Fla. – The city of Clearwater has been recognized as a Beacon City by the local not-for-profit, Blue-Green Connections, which is a community organization based out of Dunedin, Fla., that works to educate and inspire local individuals, businesses, and organizations to protect our land and waters. This recognition is due to the city’s past resolution in support of the Gulf Coast Hope Spot and current sustainability and resiliency programming.
Hope Spots are special places determined to be vital to the health of the oceans. The Florida Gulf Coast waters have recently been declared a “Hope Spot,” playing a critical role in the health of the oceans.
“The city of Clearwater upholds the legacy of its name by valuing both water conservation and quality,” said Clearwater mayor, Frank Hibbard. “We are proud to be recognized as a Beacon City. The health of our coastal and freshwater ecosystems is at the heart of what makes Clearwater a bright and beautiful place to live and visit.”
Clearwater is one of two cities in the state of Florida to earn this designation. For more information about Blue-Green Connections or the Beacon City designation, visit bluegreenconn.org.
