CLEARWATER, Fla. - Clearwater Fire & Rescue Department's beach lifeguards are conducting a summer camp this week for youngsters interested in learning more about what it takes to be a lifeguard.

CLEARWATER, Fla. – Clearwater Fire & Rescue Department’s beach lifeguards are conducting a summer camp this week for youngsters interested in learning more about what it takes to be a lifeguard.

Nearly two dozen students ages 8 to 12 are participating in the camp, held daily on Clearwater Beach.

Last week was a camp for those who were 13 to 16 years old. Each day, campers learn about safety issues on the beach and in the water.

“They participate in physical fitness and mock rescues to learn more about the job,” said CFR.
