The Washington Nationals canceled a 4th of July fireworks event Sunday due to the city’s noise curfew, according to a statement from the team.

The Nationals were expected to host a “Freedom Fireworks” display after the game but the city’s noise curfew forced the team to cancel unexpectedly, according to a statement from the Nationals.

“Tonight’s Freedom Fireworks presented by Budweiser have been canceled due to the city’s noise curfew,” the statement said. “We apologize for the inconvenience.”

The Washington Nationals lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday afternoon in a 5-1 score.

It is illegal to make “unreasonably loud noise” that is “likely to annoy or disturb one or more other persons in their residences” between 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., according to Washington D.C. law.

The Washington Nationals had the first virtual World Series ring ceremony in MLB history in May 2020 after winning their first-ever World Series title in October 2019.

The Washington Nationals did not respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
