CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. – All Citrus County schools will be closed on Thursday, September 26th, and Friday, September 27th, as the county prepares for the impending storm. Wednesday, September 25th, will remain a scheduled half-day.

The decision to close schools comes after the Sheriff’s Office announced that hurricane shelters will open on Wednesday at 2 p.m.

Since several schools serve as shelters, all schools will close after the half-day on Wednesday.

After-school programs and extracurricular activities are canceled from Wednesday through Friday. The YMCA’s before and after-school programs will also follow this schedule. The activation of shelters is based on various factors, with the school district playing a key role in the Emergency Operations Center’s response.
