HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – A feud regarding lights from a car wash has ended up in court after the plaintiff allegedly shed new light on the situation.

Larry S. Aldridge, 67, who has owned his Seffner property for 28 years, built a home there in 2011, but four years ago the Washed Up Car Wash moved into the neighborhood and life changed for Aldridge, according to a suit filed.

It seems that even though the daily car wash operation closes at 7 p.m. the owners illuminate the business until 12:30 a.m.

Aldridge, who lives on Peek Street, says the “constant and continual illumination” from the “extremely bright” lights have caused him to suffer “serious annoyance and discomfort as well as mental distress and injury to his health.”

Aldridge also claims the lights will make it “impossible” to sell or rent the home at its “true value.”

In a lawsuit, he seeks an injunction requiring at the car wash’s lights to be extinguished each night at the 7:00 p.m. closing time.

The feud reached a new level when Aldridge figured out where one of the owners of the car wash lives.

Aldridge allegedly drove his Ford F-150 to the home of co-owner Frank Orobello home and parked in such a way as to have the truck’s headlights glaring into the residence.

In a stalking complaint filed by co-owner Layne Williams at the end of April, Orobello claimed Aldridge began intimidating and threatening him and his family two years ago.

Among other things, Aldridge allegedly confronted Orobello outside the Seffner car wash; dumped trash outside Aldridge’s home, and left “strange and threatening voicemails”.

In a lawsuit, Aldridge seeks an injunction requiring at the car wash’s lights be extinguished each night at the 7:00 pm closing time.

Orobello opened their flagship Brandon car wash in 2018 saying, “We wanted to be the Disney World of car washes,” but for Aldridge, it has become “Nightmare on Peek Street”.
