TAMPA, FL. – The Bucs will have to wait until Sunday at Carolina to be able to put on NFC South Champions hats and shirts. Perhaps they were thinking about clinching the NFC South, instead of executing. New Orleans beat Tampa Bay 9-0 for the 7th consecutive time in the regular season.
“It’s never happened to me,” Bucs coach Bruce Arians said. “I can’t remember the last time I was shut out, or us.”
Tom Brady had his worst game as a Buccaneer.
Brady only threw for 213 yards and 1 interception. Brady has thrown 8 picks against the Saints in four regular-season games.
“It was just a tough night,” said Brady. “Didn’t do much of anything right. We’ve got to get a lot better, got to get back to work.”
The Bucs defense did the job holding the Taysom Hill lead Saints offense to 212 total yards and 3 field goals. Hill was impressed with his team’s defense.
“You can’t say enough about what they did to pitch a shutout like that,” Hill said. “Against a Brady-led offense, it’s incredible.”
The Bucs will try to forget about this clunker and can put those NFC South Championship hats on Sunday in Carolina if they beat the Panthers. Bucs would also clinch a playoff berth win a win.
