BROOKSVILLE, Fla. – A Brooksville woman and child were seriously injured in a crash Tuesday, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers say around 11:20 AM, a car driving northbound on US-41 was approaching the yellow flashing turn light approaching Powell Road.

At the intersection, the car, driven by a 76-year-old Brooksville woman, turned left into the path of the SUV, and the two collided.

After the initial impact, the car rotated and stopped within the intersection; while the SUV was redirected southwest and collided with a utility pole, according to FHP.

The driver of the SUV, a 37-year-old Brooksville woman, and a passenger, a 7-year-old Brooksville boy, were seriously injured in the crash and transported to a local hospital.

The other passengers in the SUV, a 32-year-old woman and two girls ages 9 and 6, suffered minor injuries.

Troopers say the 76-year-old woman suffered only minor injuries in the crash and had no passengers in her car at the time.
