BROOKSVILLE, Fla – Hernando County Fire Rescue, along with the City of Brooksville Fire Department, responded to a reported structure fire in the 1500 block of Jefferson Street at 2 am Friday morning.

Officials say the initial reports were a kitchen fire with a neighbor attempting to extinguish it with a garden hose.

First arriving units found smoke from a duplex, and the neighbor’s efforts had knocked the fire down.
