A Rhode Island man with a history of bank robbery is returning to prison after admitting to robbing the same East Providence bank twice – once in 2012 and again on New Year’s Eve in 2019.

Justin Worley, 44, Cranston, previously known as the “Bearded Bandit,” pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit bank robbery and bank robbery. In 2019, Worley and an accomplice, Nicholas Lage, stole approximately $12,000. Lage brandished a knife during the robbery.

Worley was previously convicted in federal court and served over six years for robbing nine banks in 2012. He and Lage were arrested at Twin River casino hours after the 2019 robbery.

Lage pleaded guilty to similar charges in 2021 and was sentenced to 36 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release. Worley is scheduled to be sentenced on January 30, 2025.
