CLEARWATER, Fla. – Clearwater Police and Clearwater Fire & Rescue responded to a crash involving a motorcycle early Thursday evening at the corner of Engman Street and Roosevelt Avenue.
The call came in just after 5 p.m.
A 17-month-old baby girl riding in the lap of her stepfather on a motorcycle was seriously injured when he crashed after running a stop sign.
The child was taken to All Children’s Hospital, where she remains in critical but stable condition tonight. The 35-year-old stepfather was taken to Morton Plant Hospital to be medically checked.
After running the stop sign, he saw a crash with a car was about to occur and he laid down the motorcycle, which propelled the baby underneath the car.
Dontrell Stanley, 35, was booked into the Pinellas County Jail early Friday morning on charges of neglect of a child with great bodily harm and having no valid driver’s license. He was driving a 2017 Diax motorcycle when the crash occurred.
