Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg may be a hero to leftists for the indictment against former President Donald Trump on an allegation that both the Justice Department and federal elections officials passed on.

But a new poll shows Americans generally are not on-board with his clearly politically motivated pursuit and indictment of Trump.

An ABC News poll released Sunday found that just 45% of respondents agreed that Trump should have been charged with skirting election laws with a payment to stripper Stormy Daniels.

Bragg alleges that the $130,000 Daniels received in 2016 from Trump’s former lawyer, Michael Cohen, was intended to keep her quiet about an affair with the real estate magnate.

Trump denies the affair and any wrongdoing.

While 55% of Americans clearly think Bragg is wrong or have some doubts about his actions, the relatively high number in the minority who agree with him is driven by Democrats.

ABC said its poll found 88% of Democrats support the indictment of Trump.

Only 16% of Republicans say Trump should have been charged.

Bragg also loses among independents, as 59% either say Trump should not have been charged or are not sure.

Ironically, people clearly think Bragg’s quest to bring down Trump is politically motivated.

Overall, 47% said Bragg, a Democrat backed by leftist billionaire George Soros, is driven by politics, compared to just 32% who disagree.

Meanwhile, ABC reported that 50% of respondents think the charges are serious, another number attributable to Democrats. The network reported that 87% of those on the left believe the charges against Trump are ‘serious,” compared to just 29% of Republicans and 43% of independents.
