HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrested for his involvement in a murder that took place in September 2020.

Williams is facing the following charges: First Degree Felony Murder with a Firearm and Armed Robbery with a Firearm Discharge.

“It was imperative for us to track down and arrest this violent criminal who, at the age of 19, committed murder,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “This arrest reflects the excellent investigative skills of our detectives who did not leave a stone unturned until this suspect was taken into custody. His cruelty has resulted in the most serious of charges and we hope a lifetime regret for the pain he has inflicted on the victim’s family as well as his own.”

At approximately 2:30 p.m. on September 20, 2020, the HCSO Communications Center received a 911 call about a shooting that had just occurred at the Coopers Pond Apartments, located on Fountain Mist Drive in Tampa. Upon arrival, deputies located a shooting victim within one of the apartments in the neighborhood.

The victim was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital, where despite life-saving efforts, the victim succumbed to their injuries. The suspect, Dontavius Williams, fled from the scene.
