Senators have voted on the impeachment article accusing former president Trump of inciting the January 6 attack on the US Capitol building.

For Trump to be convicted, a two-thirds vote was required in the Senate.

By a vote of 57-43, former President Trump is found not guilty. Trump has been acquitted of the charge in the article.

A majority of senators found Trump guilty on Saturday in the 57-43 vote, but the number fell short of the supermajority needed to convict the president.
