Orlando Man Pleads Guilty To Smuggling Firearms To Canada

ORLANDO, Fla. – A 24-year-old Orlando man, Jonen Castillo, has pleaded guilty to federal charges of smuggling firearms to Canada.

Castillo admitted to concealing five firearms and nine magazines inside record players and mailing them to a recipient in Canada in June 2023.

The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. Castillo faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a Department of Justice initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence.
