Law enforcement in Georgia is investigating an apparent murder-suicide after two elderly women were found dead on Sunday.

Police in Chatham County, Georgia responded to a tragic incident where two elderly sisters were found dead from gunshot wounds.

Preliminary investigations suggest that one sister, Deloris Hooker (70), entered the home and shot her sister, Deborah Hudson (71), before taking her own life. The sisters’ 98-year-old father, whom they were caring for, was reportedly present in the house during the shooting.

Neighbors revealed that there had been long-standing issues between the sisters, and Hooker, who had recently become homeless, was attempting to move back into the home.

Police are awaiting autopsy results, and the investigation is ongoing.
