POLK COUNTY, Fla. – Looking to obtain your concealed weapons permit or simply brush up on firearms safety? The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is offering an afternoon Firearms Safety Course/Concealed Weapons Class on Saturday, August 17th. While the morning session is full, there are still spots available for the afternoon class, which runs from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

Date: Saturday, August 17th

Time: 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm (Afternoon class ONLY)

Cost: $45 (Non-refundable, proceeds benefit Polk Sheriff’s Charities, Inc.)

Description:

This course fulfills the Florida Department of Agriculture’s requirements for obtaining a concealed weapons permit. Even with permitless carry now in effect, a permit offers benefits like reciprocity in other states and exemption from the 3-day waiting period for firearm purchases.

Important Information:

  • Registration: Call 863-298-6242 during normal business hours (Mon-Fri, 8-5) to reserve your seat.
  • Firearms: Handguns will be available for the hands-on portion, but you are encouraged to bring your own if possible.
