ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – St. Petersburg Fire Rescue (SPFR) extinguished a fire at a single-family home on the 800 block of 40th Avenue South this afternoon around 4:30 pm.

Crews arrived to find the home engulfed in flames. Thankfully, everyone inside was able to escape safely before firefighters arrived. Responding teams successfully extinguished the blaze before it spread to neighboring houses.

The fire reached the attic but was contained to the back half of the structure. While significant damage was sustained, a bigger disaster was averted.

A fire investigator is currently on the scene to determine the cause of the fire.

Firefighters will remain at the location to assist the displaced residents.
