A Texas man has been indicted for one count of assault with the intent to murder and one count of possession of contraband by a federal inmate.

If convicted, Shane McMillan, 50, Texas, faces up to 25 years in federal prison.

According to the indictment, McMillan is an inmate in the Coleman Federal Correctional Complex in Sumter County, Florida.

On July 9, 2023, he assaulted another inmate with the intent to commit murder. McMillan was also in possession of a sharp metal object, which is prohibited in prison.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is investigating this case. It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Hannah Nowalk.
