BROOKSVILLE, Fla. – A Brooksville man was killed in a crash that happened around 6:15 am on Monday, troopers say.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a City of Brooksville garbage truck was traveling southbound on US-41. 

Just south of Mondon Hill Road, Driver 1, a 68-year-old Brooksville man, lost control of the vehicle for an unknown reason.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, collided with a guardrail, traveled down an embankment, and partially overturned. 

Troopers say the unrestrained driver suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.
