ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – A 60-year-old Florida man was arrested after driving drunk and smashing into a police car. Officers say he was also in possession of Fentanyl.

According to police, at about 7:15 p.m., Monday, James Anderson, 60, struck a police cruiser while its emergency lights were activated and parked for traffic control at 18th Avenue South and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Street South in St. Pete.

Investigators say the officer suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment.

The driver was determined to be impaired and was taken into custody.

Anderson was charged with DUI involving property damage, driving on a suspended license, and passion of Fentanyl.
