The Biden administration is harshly asking that media outlets provide negative coverage of the impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden.

In the letter, the administration claims that the impeachment inquiry is “based on lies” and that it is a “political stunt”.

The White House letter to media executives says, “It’s time for the media to ramp up its scrutiny of House Republicans for opening an impeachment inquiry based on lies,” Ian Sams, a spokesperson for the White House Counsel’s Office, wrote in the letter, which was first obtained by CNN.

“For years, Republicans in Congress have tried to muddy the waters by attracting media coverage of their allegations, and as they choose to move forward with impeachment, it is the responsibility of the independent press to treat their claims with the appropriate scrutiny. Covering impeachment as a process story — Republicans say X, but the White House says Y — is a disservice to the American public who relies on the independent press to hold those in power accountable.”

“House Republican leaders should be held accountable for the fact that they are lurching toward impeachment over allegations that are not only unfounded but, in virtually all cases, have been actively disproven — including by witnesses and documents in their own investigations, as well as years-old congressional probes and even the former President’s first impeachment inquiry,” Sams added, and included a 14-page appendix he said addressed seven “key lies” the impeachment effort was based upon.

The Biden administration intends to send the letter to news organizations, including CNN, the New York Times, Fox News, the Associated Press, CBS News, and others, according to CNN.

The letter comes one day after House Speaker Kevin McCarthy announced the Biden impeachment inquiry.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia on Tuesday praised embattled House Speaker Kevin McCarthy for opening the investigation into President Joe Biden’s alleged corruption.

“It was a very strong move, and I believe that’s what real leadership looks like,” the Georgia Republican told Fox Business host Larry Kudlow.

She said it was the House Republicans’ “duty” to root the corruption out of the federal government.

“That’s what the American people deserve, and that’s what we’re going to do,” said Greene.

McCarthy announced the investigation on Tuesday, saying Biden fostered a “culture of corruption with his involvement in his son Hunter’s shady overseas business deals.

The speaker has faced tough criticism from his own side in recent days, including from Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz who had suggested he would move to oust McCarthy for not abiding by a deal he struck with conservatives to gain the gavel.

After Kudlow suggested that McCarthy would open the investigation into Bidne without a formal House vote, Greene said that by pursuing such action, McCarthy was only following the precedent set by Democrat Nancy Pelosi when she went after Trump.

“This should be a warning to Democrats, and all Democrat leaders. You better be careful for every Pandora’s Box that you open, because we will use it too,” she said.

Greene argued that the probe needed to go beyond Biden.

“We have to dig to the bottom of the corruption here in Washington, D.C. Not only is this about Joe Biden, … we need to investigate this for as long as it takes to uncover every single unelected bureaucrat that has covered up Joe Biden’s crimes.”

“We need a list of those names,” the congresswoman added, “because when we get President Trump back in the White House, we need to hold those very people in the Deep State accountable for covering up the crimes of Joe Biden and propelling him to the highest set of power in our country.”

She added that the Biden administration has “used and abused” the legal system in its effort to “persecute” Trump “simply for using his free speech.”

“This is wrong and we cannot stand for it,” she said.
