On Monday, February 20, 2023, at approximately 1:23 p.m., deputies responded to 2180 Evans Road in Dunedin to check the welfare of Ivette Martinov.

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – On Monday, February 20, 2023, at approximately 1:23 p.m., deputies responded to 2180 Evans Road in Dunedin to check the welfare of 62-year-old Ivette Martinov.

Upon arrival, deputies could smell the odor of smoke coming from the location and requested Dunedin Fire Rescue respond.

Dunedin Fire Rescue responded and forced entry into the residence where Martinov was located deceased. There was no active fire at the time of entry, but there was evidence of a fire.

Detectives assigned to the Robbery/Homicide Unit and Burglary/Pawn (Arson) Unit are investigating the fire and say the fire does not appear suspicious in nature.

The Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
