Fermion Rodriguez-Ortega, age 24, a resident of Dallas, Texas, was charged on December 8, 2022, in a two-count indictment by a Federal Grand Jury.

NEW ORLEANS, LA. – Fermion Rodriguez-Ortega, age 24, a resident of Dallas, Texas, was charged on December 8, 2022, in a two-count indictment by a Federal Grand Jury.

Rodriguez-Ortega was charged with conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 400 grams or more of fentanyl and possession with intent to distribute 400 grams or more of fentanyl.

For both counts of the indictment, Rodriguez-Ortega faces a mandatory minimum sentence of ten years, up to life imprisonment, a fine of up to $10,000,000, at least five years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment, and a $100 mandatory special assessment fee.

U.S. Attorney Evans reiterated that the indictment is merely a charging document and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
