The driver of the semi-truck, a 37-year-old Opa Locka man, died at the scene, troopers say.

The train derailed and came to a stop, blocking the east and westbound lanes of US 27 in Hendry County.

Troopers say the train was pulling 46 empty carts at the time of the crash, and no occupants were injured on the train. The crash remains under investigation.

US 27 remains closed in the vicinity of the railroad crossing at this time. Emergency crews remain on the scene and are in the process of reopening the lanes later this evening.
