A Texas man was arrested for threatening violence against those who gathered in Tampa last month for the Turning Point USA Student Action Summit convention.

The FBI recently arrested Alejandro Richard Velasquez Gomez of San Antonio after he posted threats on social media about the conservative student conference, where speakers included former President Donald Trump, Gov. Ron DeSantis, and U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz.

According to the legal affairs website Law & Crime, Velasquez wrote, “July 22 is the day of retribution the day I will have revenge against all of humanity which all of you will pay for my suffering.”

“SAS [Student Action Summit] will be the turning point of the LatinoZoomer lore,” added Velasquez, whose online ID is “LatinoZoomer.”

Law & Crime noted that Tampa police “believed the post to be a credible threat.”

Velasquez reportedly bought a plane ticket to Tampa but then canceled his flight before leaving Texas.

The FBI said Velasquez raised and admitted a compassion to Elliot Rodger, a 22-year-old California man who killed six people in a murder spree in a small college town.

The FBI reported that Velasquez also had on his phone at least three images of nude minors who were “displayed in an overtly sexual manner.”

The Washington Times noted that Tampa police arrested Velasquez, who has been charged with making “written or electronic threats to kill, do bodily injury, or conduct a mass shooting or an act of terrorism,” in addition to child pornography charges.
