ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – A tragic accident Sunday around 6:35 pm when a KIA SUV near the intersection of 63rd Avenue North and 12th Street North struck a 9-year-old boy riding a bicycle.

Despite immediate medical attention, the child succumbed to their injuries.

The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.

12th Street North between 62nd and 64th Avenues North is currently closed to traffic.
