GIBSONTON, Fla. – According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 56-year-old Ruskin man died Saturday night after being hit by a car while walking down U.S. Highway 41.

The crash took place just before 5 p.m. in the southbound lanes of U.S.-41 in Gibsonton, south of Nundy Avenue.

According to Troopers, a 51-year-old Tampa man was driving a car south on U.S. 41, with a 12-year-old male passenger. Both were wearing seatbelts when they collided with the pedestrian.

The Ruskin man was walking down the southbound lanes when he was struck. The man died from his injuries sustained in the crash and died at the scene.
