ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – A 29-year-old St. Petersburg woman was killed overnight while crossing an intersection on foot and struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.
According to police, at 2:15 a.m., a blue 2006 Lexus RX330 was traveling northbound in the 1800 block of 34th Street South.
A pedestrian, Cassandra Gelineau, 29, of St Petersburg, was walking from west to east in the south crosswalk at 15th Avenue South and 34th Street South.

The front of the vehicle struck Gelineau while she was in the crosswalk, police say.
The Lexus fled the scene and was later found in the area. The driver is still unknown. Gelineau was pronounced dead at the scene.
