HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL. – A 28-year-old Tampa man who stopped to help at the scene of a crash Monday, was killed when another collision happened on I-75 around 2:40 am.
Troopers say that a tanker truck, traveling southbound, collided with a car overnight, causing the tanker to overturn, while the car was able to come to a controlled stop.
Investigators say a third vehicle decelerated and stopped on the shoulder of I-75, while a fourth car failed to stop and collided with the rear of that car.
Troopers say the Tampa man, driving a black Lexus, stopped on the south outside shoulder of I-75 to render aid on the crash scene.
A tractor-trailer, hauling lumber, struck the overturned tanker truck in the outside center lane and continued on the shoulder colliding with the stopped cars.
Troopers say upon that collision the 28-year-old Tampa man, a good samaritan, was struck and suffered fatal injuries at the crash scene.
