HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – A tragic accident occurred Saturday night in Gibsonton when a 13-year-old girl from Tampa was fatally struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross US-41.

The incident happened around 10:55 pm, just north of Big Bend Road, involving a Chevy Silverado driven by a 17-year-old male from Gibsonton.

The young girl was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers say.
