ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – A 13-year-old boy accidentally shot himself Thursday night, according to police.

Police say at 7:35 p.m. police officers responded to a call of a 13-year-old boy with a gunshot wound. 

Investigators say the bot shot himself in the 1900 block of 11th Avenue South. He went to a nearby church for assistance.

Investigators are still working to determine who owns the gun and where/how the teen obtained it.

His injury is not life-threatening, police say.
